Cast members of the Dutch Pot Senior Citizen's Society

After her performance debut at Soho Theatre, Naomi's passion and creative knowledge of working in the community was recognised by the venue's Education department and she was invited to work with the venue on various projects.

She directed a group from the Dutch Pot Senior Citizen's Society for the venue's biennial community play. Discussing the theme of Spring and its environmental significance, Naomi was keen to explore Spring's importance for the participants as they were inspired by their own African-Caribbean backgrounds. Using her skills as a deviser, she created a theatrical structure which supported the performers as they shared their own tales of conjuring up the 'Spring Bride'. The final production was a charming interactive event using music and storytelling to engage the audiences at Soho Theatre.

She also delivered a series of creative writing workshops with Lancaster Youth Centre, a fully integrated club that caters for young people with special educational needs. Working with a group of 12 to 25 year-olds, she devised a variety of storytelling activities that formed the initial stages of the playwriting workshops. Together they explored story construction and characterisation and each participant created a monologue or a series of short scenes, which was then presented at Soho Theatre.
