"It Can Happen Here" Creative Partnerships
Naomi has been invited to work with various community based arts organisations on many occasions, either as a theatre director or youth theatre tutor creating new work with their local young people.
She has directed young actors at Greenwich and Lewisham Young People's Theatre, using devising and physical theatre techniques whilst maintaining a professional rehearsal setting. Opinions about education, crime in their local communities and their own identities are shared, creating innovative and powerful plays, which stirs the audience into questioning their own ideas and opinions.
Naomi has worked with young children at artsdepot as a storymaker encouraging self-expression through traditional and new stories. Once again, she creates safe theatrical settings, allowing all participants the opportunity to develop their understanding of stagecraft techniques at their own pace, which then encourages them to develop their own imaginative stories.
She has also worked with Half Moon Young People's Theatre as a youth theatre practitioner, working with their mainstream and inclusive youth groups exploring the stories of its local community within a story tale setting.
"Naomi is a ‘go to’ art practitioner – particularly as a facilitator and or workshop leader within projects for and with young people. Reliable, creative, dynamic, she is an artist who gets the brief but adds so much more, building such positive relationships with teachers, parents and of course most significantly the young people she is working with. Her experience as an all-round artist, performer, director, writer creates one of the most talented arts project leader and facilitators that we work with.
As a performer and storyteller Naomi has the ability to make her audience, small or large, from a theatre with 120 children to a small intimate gathering in a library feel important, engaged and special. Her warmth, understanding and skill in delivering a performance comes from a complete understanding of how theatre needs to embrace and invite its audience in."
