Community Drama
"It Can Happen Here" London Bubble and Creative Partnerships
Naomi has been invited to work with various community based arts organisations on many occasions, either as a theatre director or youth theatre tutor creating new work with their local young people.
She has directed young actors at Greenwich and Lewisham Young People's Theatre, using devising and physical theatre techniques whilst maintaining a professional rehearsal setting. Opinions about education, crime in their local communities and their own identities are shared, creating innovative and powerful plays, which stirs the audience into questioning their own ideas and opinions.
Naomi has worked with young children at artsdepot as a storymaker encouraging self-expression through traditional and new stories. Once again, she creates safe theatrical settings, allowing all participants the opportunity to develop their understanding of stagecraft techniques at their own pace, which then encourages them to develop their own imaginative stories.
She has also worked with Half Moon Young People's Theatre as a youth theatre practitioner, working with their mainstream and inclusive youth groups exploring the stories of its local community within a story tale setting.
“Naomi worked for London Bubble on a project entitled ‘It Can Happen Here’ which involved her delivering drama workshops with young people in a wide variety of settings including Primary, Secondary and a PMLD school. The feedback from children, teachers and fellow practitioners alike was resoundingly positive. Naomi displays a passion for working with young people. Naomi is reliable, committed and has an amazing creative energy, which captures the participants’ imagination and enables them to explore different themes or ideas.”
