Adapting Books at Discover

Naomi continues to work with Discover Children's Story Centre, the UK’s first story centre for children aged 0-11 and their families. Here, she creates as a writer and director adapting children's picture books into interactive and engaging storytelling shows for babies and toddlers and of course, their grown ups!
Initially, Naomi was asked to develop the picturebook You're Safe With Me by Chitra Soundar and Poonam Mistry. Working collaboratively with Discover's story builders, Naomi adapted the story into a storytelling play for children, using multi-sensory approaches with puppetry and song to create an engaging and charming performance for families.

When the moon rises high and stars twinkle, it is bedtime for the baby animals of the Indian forest.
But tonight, when the skies turn dark and the night grows stormy, the littles ones can’t sleep.
Only Mama Elephant with her words of wisdom can reassure them.
Naomi's latest show with Discover is Sophy Henn's The Best Worst Day Ever, an enchanting picture book exploring feelings, from good to bad moods and back again. Once again collaborating with Discover's story builders, she has created an enchanting world of exploration and adventure for all children and their families. Bringing Arthur's imaginary world to life with movement and song, Naomi has added her own wonder and comedic charm.

Arthur is having the WORST DAY EVER.
So he runs away – nearly to the end of the garden.
But when it’s time to go home, Arthur’s journey back is full of surprises
and he learns how to turn a stomp into a skip, a huff into a hoot and a roar into a song!
Maybe Arthur’s day isn’t so bad after all…
